I texted everyone in the “world” I could:

“A year a go, cant remember where I was going (but my boy told me I had a vision)…right now, I found myself at David Ortiz’s house playing Dominos, drinking Presidentes (Dominican Beer). Man I am so lucky… I am so Grateful. Thank you all for everything.”

I was sitting on the side lines after David’s brother and my good friend Hector (Hector,I owe you) laid a good old ass “woop” on David and I in our first Domino match. Then came Manny, Lugo and Papelbon…what a riot.

Earlier, while David talked about life he said to me: “Mire, yo te voy a decir algo, el que madruga Dios le ayuda, el que trabaja duro, todo lo puede” ( simple translation: “Look, I tell you something, God helps those that endure long night of hard work. Everything is possible with hard work.) So true. I sat there, thinking to myself, hard work does pay and it is so well worth it at the end of it all.

This is so overwhelming, in a good way that is. A dream that I sure don’t want to wake up from. “Lifetime Redsox Ticket Holders” couldn’t get seats this good.

Thank you, to every single one of you that ever lend a hand.

Real recognizes real! As bad as I wanted the New England Patriots to win the super bowl with a perfect season, the New York Giants played a perfect game and became the new NFL champions. It’s all good after all and our good friend Sinorice Moss took some time out to send us a picture of him rockin’ our “Minority(not)” tee.

“Anytime man! i am wearing the Afro-American shirt today. I got you always remember that! so please keep sending them and i’ll keep reppin’ DEEZSHIRTS fo-life.”

Today I got a bunch of phone calls and text messages from many of my friends about this “bitter sweet” story if you will. David Ortiz talked to the media about his unfortunate wrist injury, while at the same time sporting his I still love white people shirt. We hope it all ends well for Big Papi after all. Thanks David for supporting DeezShirts.deezshirts_justo.jpg

It feels like history in the making watching a long time friend (Jesse Boykins III) spread his wings, grow and bless a lot of us with feel soul good music. If you ask me, Jesse is a hidden jewel in the music industry and his music is more than just a breath of fresh air. Check out pictures of him rocking our “I love black people” shirt at one of his shows in the L.E.S (lower east side, NYC). To view more pictures click here.

True story,

As I scrambled around “the lab” as part of the every day ritual, I get an unexpected phone call. Jose Flores (David’s assistant) called me to congratulate me because David Ortiz came out on the sports section of the paper, The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald, wearing the “I made a difference” shirt. It was unreal; it felt like something out of a movie, unbelievable. I was so in shock by the good news that I honestly didn’t know what to say (oh man, for real?).

Do you think that David wanted to make a statement? emphasizing on the fact that the players “made a difference” supporting the idea of compensating their staff while working over seas during the exhibition games in Japan .

It is an amazing feeling to see positive people like David Ortiz connect with the messages that this brand represents. Jose, thanks a million for all the help and to Big Papi for always supporting DeezShirts.

Aaaand, I can not forget to thank Hector Piña and Omar Cabrera for connecting Deez with the RedSox Crew.

PS. Check out this small video of the red sox after landing in Japan. Look for David Ortiz rocking DeezShirts.

Well, hard work eventually blossoms and with the love and support of friends like Rafael, DeezShirts has been able to make it this far.

I have been working with the Dominican Community in Boston to raise funds for the victims of Tormenta Noel (Tropical Storm Noel). I built them a site and helped out at the event, which had a great turnout (www.AyudasUnidas.com).

At this event I met Freddy Beras Goico, a well known individual throughout the Dominican community. His foundation (Fundacion El Gordo de la Semana) has been recognized for helping Dominican Republic overcome natural disasters as the most recent, Tormenta Noel.

Deezshirts has joined forces with Fundacion El Gordo de la Semana in making a difference. We have designed a “I made a difference” shirt. All the proceeds from the sales of this shirt will be donated to Freddy Beras Goico’s organization. Not only will you receive a shirt but you will be helping someone in need. Everyone is welcome to make a purchase.

The shirts will be up really soon.

Justo

A very special thanks to Milagros Cruz, who supported the idea and helped others see our vision.

Republica de Cabo Verde (The Republic of Cape Verde) are a chain of islands located off the Western Coast of Africa. If you live in the New England region of the U.S. you may have heard of them. You might say they resemble your average Latino or Afro American. In many cases they even share the same names, but their heritage has its own unique story.

Since so many of our Cape Verdean friends LOVE what we do, it was only right to create for them this classic DeezShirt. On the front you will see the map of the islands in the form of their flag’s stars. On the back you’ll notice the traditional white and red stripes and classic ring of stars symbolizing the native flag.

Hey Everyone,

It’s been a while now since I sold my first DeezShirt. Ever since I’ve been absolutely thrilled to be here. It gives me great pleasure to still be able to share my work, creativity and style with each and every one of you.

First, I must thank everyone that has been a part of this journey from day one. I’d also like to extend gratitude to all of you who have joined DeezShirts along the way. Thank you for showing me and my work a great deal of love and support. Whether you bought one or simply gave your feedback, know that it has been truly appreciated.

Thank you, to everyone that believes. I thank you (pounding on my chest), to let you all know that it is real. The hard work and long hours have not been in vain. I hope to continue being privileged enough to have my work proudly displayed on you.

Thank you,

Society has a funny way of making up our realities. In doing so it creates a whole lot of stereotypical non-sense. Just like in most things a few rotten apples ruin the bunch. Well not here…our I Still Love White People” t-shirt is our ode to those members of the Caucasian persuasion who treat everyone as their equal.

From the tip of CHILE to the top of MEXICO and over onto a string of islands in the CARIBBEAN, Latin Americans are everywhere! With nineteen countries and thousands of distinct differences amongs them, amazing similarities still exist… language, core values and beliefs.

For this reason we’ve created a I AM LATIN AMERICA” t-shirts. Very simply, this DeezShirt creation brings together all those who consider themselves a part of any of the many countries in Latin America. It’s a celebration of Latin heritage.
